Aurore Valade is a French photographer and artist born in 1981. She graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux and the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles. Creating artistic photographs based on a diversion of the everyday, she shows the hidden face of what is surrounding the viewer. Somewhere between performance, theatre and photography, she involves strangers in recreating compositions inherited from classical painting, which present alarming or humorous societal observations. She works from testimonies in order to reconstitute human daily life, exaggerating their actions to increase their strength. The artist also manipulates her photographs, taking part in a hybrid artistic approach, by scratching images, manipulating photos, or creating devices that are revealed through the action of the public. Aurore Valade actively participates in the dissemination of her work, by exhibiting and publishing her images, while delegating part of her work to the public in this active approach close to performance which seems to be at the heart of her art.
