Coline Dupuis was born in 1991 and was graduated from the Villa Arson in 2016. She lives and works in Marseille.

Since several years, Coline Dupuis’s video maker practice borders on the boundaries of professional world. The portraits she moulds are about workers, giving a face to a profession.

During her studies at the contemporary art school of Nice (la Villa Arson), she was concerned about having a day job. She saw her fixed-term contracts like artist residences where she could be confronted with composite characters, with people whose profile isn’t just defined by their professional function, but who are also defined by the way they see it, they run away from it sometimes, or they find hacks and tricks to make out their human nature despite their job. In this process, the human relation is decisive and systematically readjusts projects, getting involved in the written scenes like so many raw breaches of a documentary nature. Those filmed portraits take place into a gallery that widens each encounter, and establish dialogue in the exhibition space.
